Valley University of Science and Technology Holds Spectacular Talent Show Competition
Bushenyi, 19th October 2024 – Valley University of Science and Technology (VUST) came alive yesterday as it held its highly anticipated Talent Show Competition – Season One, an event that captivated the VUST community with extraordinary performances across various categories.
Organized by the University management, this inaugural talent show aimed to unearth and celebrate the diverse talents within the VUST community while strengthening student engagement and promoting the University’s brand.
The event, which filled the main hall to capacity, saw students’ enthusiastic participation and non-stop cheers from the audience. To watch was a wide array of talents, ranging from comedy to cultural dance, portrait art, modeling among others. The competition was high, but several standout performances stole the spotlight.
Natweta Aggrey emerged as one of the night’s top stars, winning in both the Comedy and Poetry categories, much to the delight of the audience. The VUST Bakonjo Cultural Dancers showcased their rich traditional heritage, winning the Traditional Dance category with an electrifying performance.
Agaba Cricent mesmerized everyone with his skill in Portrait Art, while Muhindo Monday Joseph took home the trophy for the Miming category. In the vibrant Dance category, Akampurira Elisa claimed victory while Musasizi Gerald impressed the judges with his gospel song to win the Singing competition. The stunning Modeling display by Masika Sarah sealed her victory in that category.

Though they did not win, the VUST Oldies Dancers left a lasting impression. Their high-energy performance had the entire audience on their feet, proving to be one of the night’s most memorable moments.

The head of adjudication team, Mr. Eliot Atukwatirire, commended all the participants for their remarkable performances. While highlighting areas for improvement, he noted the immense potential displayed by the students and encouraged them to continue nurturing their talents. All participants received certificates in recognition of their efforts, and the winners were awarded trophies.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Enos Rwasheema praised the organizers and participants for making the event a resounding success, emphasizing that such activities are crucial for the holistic development of students. He also used the occasion to launch the University’s Newsletter Volume 2, Issue 3, which captures key developments and achievements at VUST.
The talent show is part of VUST’s broader strategy to engage students beyond the classroom. It also aligns with the University’s objectives of fostering creativity, leadership, and cultural awareness. Through initiatives like these, VUST is positioning itself as a hub for not only academic excellence but also the promotion of extracurricular talents.
The event’s overwhelming success has already sparked excitement for future editions of the talent competition, which promises to grow bigger and better. For now, the winners and participants alike will cherish the memories of an unforgettable night of creativity and expression.
