Valley University of Science and Technology to Launch HEAC Programme in August 2025

In a groundbreaking move to enhance access to higher education, Valley University of Science and Technology (VUST) is set to introduce the Higher Education Access Certificate (HEAC) Programme in August 2025. This initiative aims to bridge the gap for disadvantaged learners who have not attained the minimum academic requirements for direct University entry.

The HEAC Programme is designed as a one-year course that will provide students with the necessary foundational knowledge and skills to qualify for university education. The programme will offer specialized training in key academic disciplines, equipping students with competencies that align with their intended degree programs.

To ensure a smooth rollout of this initiative, VUST is currently conducting a staff training on the implementation of the programme. This training is crucial in equipping lecturers and administrative staff with the necessary tools and methodologies to deliver quality education under the HEAC framework.

Speaking about the development, the Academic Registrar, Dr. Deusdedit Byabashaija, emphasized the University’s commitment to inclusivity in higher education. “At VUST, we believe that every student deserves a chance to pursue their academic aspirations. The HEAC Programme will provide an opportunity for those who did not meet the traditional University entry requirements to gain access to quality education and improve their career prospects,” he noted.
